Presumably, this could set the stage for the Kang variant to act as the antagonist for various upcoming projects during Phases 5 and 6.
Whereas Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania Introduced viewers to the Council of Kangs, led by Immortus, Rama-Tut, and the third Kang version, it also expanded the roster of heroes by giving Cassie Lang her own super suit. That, along with his lost connection to Ant-Man’s Ant, shows somewhat that he may be best suited to transition to a new moniker, officially or not. In the comics, Hank Pym eventually went from Ant-Man to being called Giant-Man, along with Goliath, Yellowjacket, and the Wasp. Scott Lang may be up for such a turn in the MCU. This may be arbitrary, but since Ant-Man first evolved captain america civil warIt’s really grown from his signature rather than shrinking from it.
Giant-Man is intriguingly linked to Bill Foster, played by Laurence Fishburne. ant-man and the wasp, who played the role of Pym. Eventually, he became Goliath, as did his nephew, Tom Foster, who would likely headline the MCU if they did introduce him. Thus, Giant-Man is free to use. It could make sense to replace Scott in the role as it could also allow someone else to fill the void as Ant-Man.
Who could be the new Ant-Man?
Whether Scott becomes Giant-Man or for other reasons, Scott’s tenure as Ant-Man may be nearing its end. MCU would still like to have one antman 4 movie, though maybe they should give The Wasp the attention it deserves. Regardless, they’ll need someone to replace him. Thankfully, the comics already had someone perfect for the job – Eric O’Grady. He was the third Ant-Man to debut in indomitable ant-man in 2006. Like Scott Lang, Eric O’Grady is a thief. However, while Scott has his daughter as his shining light, Eric acts selfishly and helps Hank steal Pym’s suit and pose as a hero.
Erik could easily find a home in the MCU in the wake of the multiverse saga. Given his often-inevitable behavior, his arc could see him more of an anti-hero, possibly even joining the Thunderbolts as in the comics, which makes it interesting to compare Scott’s arc from thief to hero. It is possible If they want to protect Scott’s legacy, this kind of framing would be perfect for Wasp or Cassie’s ongoing story, so he could appear as an antagonist as well. So, Eric has some intriguing options available should the MCU choose to move on from Scott Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania actually be their last ant Man film.
